"How strange that nature does not knock, and yet does not intrude" - Emily Dickinson (pictured bottom left)
I wanted to create this piece after I realized how after reading the messages attached to tea bags, I would throw them away. Little wastes like this seemed present everywhere in my life, almost as common as seeing a deer on a Durango road. This piece originated from water color sketches in a small journal. I was worried translating that simplistic style I thrived after on a much bigger canvas. I created this piece with an initial sketch with charcoal, washes of thinned acrylic paint, lids from milk cartons I acquired from my job, topo chico bottle caps, gum wrappers, napkins from subway, paper ends of tea bags, and two la croix cans, passion fruit and coconut flavored respectively.
