The Justice Project
Justice means very different things to different people. From environmental, economic, and compassion as justice, we went on a journey discovering what our personal philosophies were and how they affect our ideas of justice. We learned redlining and history of racism in America, watching the film True Justice to learn how slavery turned to lynching and then to the death penalty. We read the Dalai Lama and Rawl's Justice as fairness, all while trying to grapple with current issues of justice in our society such as the Bears Ears Monument. We moved on to the history of Native American environmental issues and the unequal burden of climate change in frontline communities. With our knowledge, we moved to trying to describe what we all individually believed through monologues, and then moved to a final project with the task of impacting ourselves and our local community.
